Facial and Dermaplaning Aftercare: What to Do in the First 72 Hours
By Inner Radiance Spa | October 12, 2026
North Central Phoenix (Biltmore / Sunnyslope corridor) | Dermaplane Only (20 minutes, $75)
That buttery soft feel people talk about after dermaplaning is real, and the fastest way to keep it is simple. For the first 24 to 72 hours, keep your skin cool and clean and treat sun exposure like it is the enemy. In Phoenix, UV is no joke year-round, so I want you in SPF and out of heat and sweat while your skin settles.
0–24 Hours After Dermaplane Only: keep it calm, hydrated, and out of the sun
Dermaplane Only is quick, but it is still real exfoliation. I start you with a thorough facial cleansing, then professional dermaplaning to lift dead skin and vellus hair, and I finish with antioxidant serum, moisturizer, and sun protection. After that, your job is to not undo the good work.
My non-negotiables for day one: Gentle cleanse, moisturize, and wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ if you go outside. Skip heat, sweat, and anything that stings.
Do this
- Cleanse once or twice with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. Lukewarm water only.
- Moisturize right after cleansing. Look for barrier-friendly ingredients like ceramides and hyaluronic acid.
- Apply SPF 30+ in the morning. If you are outdoors, reapply every two hours.
- Keep hands off your face. No picking at little flakes or dry patches.
Avoid this
- Direct sun, tanning, and long outdoor time. Phoenix sun hits hard even when it does not feel hot.
- Workouts that make you sweat, hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs for at least 24 to 48 hours.
- Active products: retinol, AHA/BHA, benzoyl peroxide, strong vitamin C, and scrubs for 48 to 72 hours.
- Heavy makeup for the first 24 hours if you can. If you must wear makeup, keep it light and keep brushes clean.
24–48 Hours: the glow is showing up, so don’t chase it with extra exfoliation
This is the window where people get tempted. Your skin usually looks smoother fast, makeup tends to sit beautifully, and it is easy to think, “I should do more.” Don’t. The best results come from letting your barrier rebuild so that soft, bright look lasts for days.
If you are in North Central Phoenix and you normally hit the Phoenix Mountain trails, give it a beat. Sweat plus sun plus friction is a common recipe for irritation right after dermaplaning. Do indoor walks, keep the fan on, and keep your skincare simple.
Quick rule: If a product tingles or stings right now, pause it. Stick with gentle cleanse, hydrating serum, moisturizer, and SPF.
48–72 Hours: when you can slowly restart actives (and when you should wait longer)
By day three, most people feel normal again. You might still have a little dryness around the mouth or nose, especially in Phoenix. That is not a failure, it is your skin adjusting after exfoliation.
If your skin feels calm, you can usually restart actives at 48 to 72 hours. I like a slow ramp: one active product at night, one to two nights per week, then build. If you are sensitive or acne-prone, waiting a full 72 hours often feels better than pushing it at 48.
Still hold off if: you are noticeably red, you feel raw, or you are flaking more than lightly. Give it another couple days, then ease back in.
Keep doing: SPF every morning, moisturizer at night, and reapply SPF if you are outdoors. Phoenix UV still counts in October.
The best facial I’ve experienced. My skin felt buttery soft for several days. Thank you for loving what you do, it shows!

The simple product routine that protects your dermaplane facial result
Dermaplaning helps product absorption, which is great. It also means your skin will tell you quickly if something is too strong. For 72 hours, keep your routine boring on purpose.
For the first three days
- Cleanser: gentle, no scrubs, no strong fragrance.
- Hydration: a simple hydrating serum is fine, especially hyaluronic acid.
- Moisturizer: barrier-supporting creams tend to feel best right now.
- SPF: broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, and reapply every two hours outdoors.
If you are searching for dermaplaning near me or a facial spa near me and you are worried about irritation, this is exactly why I keep Dermaplane Only straightforward. It gives you that smooth finish without stacking extra intensity on the same day.
Redness, bumps, or irritation: when to text me and when to relax
Mild redness right after dermaplaning is common, and it usually fades within a few hours. Light dryness or a tiny bit of flaking can show up over the next couple days, especially if you are in A/C a lot or you are outside in Phoenix wind and sun.
Reach out if redness is getting worse after 24 hours, you have swelling, you feel burning that does not calm down, or you see signs of infection. I would rather you ask early than try to “power through” with more products.
Her products are clean, so I don’t have to worry about having reactions. I leave her space feeling incredibly nurtured and with a sense of peace, knowing that I have taken care of myself.
One of our long-time clients
If you are local to Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Glendale, Peoria, or Tempe and you want to keep your texture smooth between appointments, I also recommend reading our Organic Facials guide in North Central Phoenix. It pairs beautifully with dermaplaning when you want more hydration and glow.
And if you found me while searching dermaplaning near me or facial spa near me, just know this. Skin prep matters for everything on your face. Keeping your barrier calm after Dermaplane Only makes every other service look better too.
A realistic 72-hour plan for busy Phoenix schedules
If you are squeezing Dermaplane Only in between work and life, keep it simple: do the appointment, go home, cleanse gently, moisturize, and sleep. Next day, SPF and no sweating. Day three, you can usually reintroduce actives slowly if your skin feels calm. That is it.
If you are also researching chemical peel near me or other skin treatments near me, I am happy to talk through what makes sense for your skin and timing. Dermaplaning is a favorite for instant smoothness with minimal downtime, as long as you protect it the first few days.
